Life of Jamain

Jamain “J-Smooth” is a seasoned guitarist known for his soulful tone, technical skill, and deep roots in jazz, funk, neo-soul, and gospel music. At the University of Minnesota Duluth, Jamain studied jazz guitar and quickly found his passion, not only in performance, but also in sharing his knowledge through private instruction. He has toured across the United States bringing electrifying performances to stages nationwide. He has also shared the spotlight with legendary musicians including Michael Bland (Prince, Soul Asylum), Sean "Smitty" Smith, and Sonny Thompson, carving a name for himself among elite company. In 2016, Jay headlined at the iconic Paisley Park, a career milestone that cemented his place in Minnesota's rich musical landscape. 
Today, he continues to perform and innovate as well as teaching private lessons in all music genres on guitar, bass, ukulele, and music theory. He has also taught at Rocktown Music since the year of 2011.

• $25 for each half hour lesson with no contract
• Spots are open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (times change)
